There is no doubt that the effects of COVID-19 have negatively impacted the African Caribbean community through inequalities in social, economic, education and health factors. Over the past year our community has experienced tremendous loss, and continues to do so as a result.
Our community is now traumatised by the disproportionate COVID-19 death rate, loss of employment, increase in mental illness and other comorbidity with individuals reluctant to engage the support they may need through fear. This includes our elderly and young people who have been particularly impacted by isolation and lockdown.
COVID Response Line
As closure of the cultural centre prevents us from delivering face to face services such as information and advice, and culturally sensitive counselling support, we have moved this service online.
ACLC’s Response Line provides residents of Haringey with free culturally relevant Information, Advice & Guidance, Counselling, Advocacy and Befriending support Monday to Friday, from 09.00 to 5.00 p.m.
